Temple Memorial for instructors we've lost.

Hi folks,

Early this year, I lost one of my teachers to cancer. Luna Yatsula was one of the most inspiring, passionate women that I have had the pleasure to study with. She was the first to teach me (what I call) The Saudi Tribal dance, kHalejee. The workshop was taught in November 2004 but she taught it so well that I am still learning from it even as I practice today!

I would like to share her teachings as part of a memorial for teachers we have lost at the Temple. This would be a gathering, with part lecture about the history of the Khaligi dance and context of the dance in the Gulf, and part dance where we will learn some basic movements and dance as a tribe in Luna's memory...

I don't know yet *when* this will happen over the course of the week, right now I'm looking to find if there is any interest from dancers to participate. I am especially looking for some drummers who know the Khaleegi rhythm and would be able to accompany us as we dance.

Luna's spirit is so inspiring to me. Please take a moment to read her story here and visit her site:

This Khaligi workshop would be my memorial for Luna - but I would also like to organize a sharing circle so that we may remember and tell the stories of those women (and men) who have inspired us so much but who have passed into the light. Anyone with a story to share or teacher to remember may also post here :)

love and light
