Braids or loose?

A friend told me that wearing her hair in braids helped to prevent "playa hair". I tried it one day but I actually got to shower pretty soon after braiding, so it was not conclusive. Anyone here have an opinion?

    I went with synthetic dreads this year and they and my hair survived the Playa.

    Last year my normal extensions didn't do so well and they all fell out a week after! oops. lol

    The only way to go for me is braids with fake hair otherwise I will have one great big giant dred and it would not be pretty...
