Attention recruits!
Don your fatigues and lace up your combat boots! Belly Dance Boot Camp wants you to participate!
Black Rock City suffers from a lack of belly dancing. Our prime directive this year is to bring belly dancing to people and camps in need of some serious shimmying.
Our operation is multifold:
-we will undergo extensive training in dance moves and styles, music, and costuming.
-we will perform, at random, subversive pre-emptive strike force operations throughout the city
-we will coordinate with the Burning Bellies at large for the annual invasion of Center Camp and the Man
Recruits of any size, shape, style, or sex are welcome. We are also looking for a few good officers to lead groups and/or teach classes/workshops. Apply online here or on the playa. Base Camp will be located within the village of Wheee!ville, with a secondary operations base at the Pyramid Scheme. Please note: Belly Dance Boot Camp is only a location from which to conduct our missions. You must barrack elsewhere!

Ivy, count me in for teaching a class if there is interest. I'll most likely be camped in the general vicinity of pyramid scheme.
Now I'm just wondering where I'm gonna find some pink cammo for my harem pants!

Not exactly sure how y'all would want to work this. I know everyone has a differnt concept about scheduling on the playa and what not.
The Boot camp will be using the open central area in the village of Wheee!ville for dancing/classes/etc. You can set up a time to teach a class if you want, or you can always recruit some people and just show up for an impromptu thing. Whatever floats your guys' boats. You tell me.
I personally am thinking about teaching an "ABCs of tribal basics for the beginners' beginner" class and I think I'd like to try to put it in the What/Where/When guide (although I'm a bit hesitiant--so far our communication with the Org hasn't been going so well... :) -

Belly Dance Boot Camp will be found in the village of Whee!ville (a village is a group of theme camps together).
Actual camp placement locations (i.e., "addresses") usually aren't given out until July. But as soon as we know I will post it here so everone knows where to find us! -

I would love to dance with you all - and teach if needed. My background: I was an original member of FatChanceBellydance lo those many years ago. I now dance with the Painted Fan, a ritual dance troupe. I also studied with the Mevlevi Dervishes for 3 years, so can teach Sufi whirling to dancers, as well.

Wed, June 2, 2004 - 12:29 PMWOO WHO WHIRRLING! I need serious help with my star turn and paddle turns and so on. When I talked to my instructor about it she said the best thing to was either go in to a field and spin until you throw up and then you are over it or take lots of Sufi classes. I cant wait!
