Thu, September 23, 2004 - 8:46 AMThere's usually a small belly dance presence. I'm cab and a little tribal. Sera from Balt area is tribal and a little cab. Kazoo/Amy is tribal from Balt area. There's another regular cabbie from NY and others, but I don't remember their names. Spontaneous belly dancing often breaks out.
I usually do impromptu lessons during the afternoon. I'll start dancing near the stage and peeps will come by asking how to do it and I'll just go into a mini lesson. It's fun. I've been thinking about doing something more structured since I've got a kick-ass sheesha and lots of decorating touches like M.E. rugs, pillows, veils, etc. Maybe for the spring PDF. I have a really sick kitty right now, and I'm not sure if I'll be able to go to fall PDF even tho we got tickets.
Hope to run into you there. -

Thu, September 23, 2004 - 9:07 AMI would love to see you there, especially since you were not able to make it to Hampden Fest. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with Camp Hon, especially since I told KME I'd be a greeter GOD/ess.
In the spring there was Sera, who is with Sahara Dance in DC, and then another there was another small group - Maddie lives in Laurel, she does body painting and dances tribal (I think) but I don't know who the rest were. Right after the Sat night Denlightenment Burn, one dancer (I didn't catch her name) led an unplanned dance "lesson" the open dance circle, and a bunch of drummers played. Of course I'd love to see more dancers there!
I'd love to do something more sturctured in the spring, Jeannine, if you're up for it. By then I'll be a bit more experienced!

Thu, September 23, 2004 - 9:47 AMHey, Amy.
I'd love to see you guys at fall PDF too! Here's hoping Athena makes a miraculous recovery overnight...
I'm really sorry Sean and I didn't make it to Hampden Fest. We called Kate to explain why (I tried to call you first, but there was no answer) We were having serious rain from Ivan here in Philly and the weather report for Baltimore area was rain rain rain and wind. We would have had almost 4 hours of driving there and back and since we thought there was a more than likely chance the fire would be a no-go due to weather, we decided it wasn't worth the risk. After hearing that it went off as planned and how fun it was, we're really regretting that we didn't go...
Yes, let's get together and plan some belly-dance related events for spring PDF! I'm getting together the structure and materials for a shadow dancing tent (I performed in such a tent at local nightclubs for Camel cigarette promotions). It's too fun. We could also have a chill-out sheesha (hookah) area with pillows. Maybe drum circles and dancing and tribal fire at night.... -

Thu, September 23, 2004 - 10:02 AMWe missed you! We really lucked out - though it may have been dry, it was still windy, and we didn't think about . . . streetlights!
